Centerpieces

I've been talking with a florist about what I would like for our centerpieces. I originally wanted all hydrangeas but she made a very good point. They are such thirsty flowers that she suggests putting them with other long lasting flowers. Now I need to figure out what other flowers I want to incorporate. I don't want anything too colorful since we are having light pink table cloths. Here are a few ideas I have found.

We are using silver mint julep cups to hold the flowers.

Mixed among taller centerpieces, Brittany ordered smaller ones that mimicked her bouquet with the same antique hydrangea, David Austin roses, and curly willows.

Silver mint julep cups held garden roses, freesias, dahlias and hydrangeas for a classic, elegant effect.

Similar blooms clustered in mint julep cups topped the tables-Bianca roses, white spray roses, and green hydrangeas.

Fall Finds

Well it definitely feels like fall here in Columbus! The leaves are changing and the weather has been chilly. I love decorating my house for fall and Halloween. I have more decorations for this time of the year than any other. I'm looking forward to putting everything up this week before we have guests visit. If I had more space I would love to buy more festive fall decorations!

The B&B we stayed at last weekend had tons of these velvet pumpkins all over the house. I loved them!

I LOVE this wreath! But I have two problems....no one would see it and I have no where to store it! Maybe when we buy a house!

Our Night at the B & B!

After a long Saturday completing our Pre Cana for the church I thought I would take Read on a surprise night away. I took him to The Orchard House in Granville, Ohio. It was our first experience at a B & B together and we had the best time. The house was so beautiful-I wanted all of the fabulous antiques the owners had found. Our room was titled The Walden Room. It was spotless and so comfortable.  I loved everything from the curtains to the wallpaper to the antique desk.

This is where we hung out, drank hot chocolate, ate homemade chocolate chip cookies and read the newspaper. Bliss.

This was the beautiful dining room where we had wine and cheese hour with the other wonderful guests staying at the house.

All pictures were taken from The Orchard House Website

These are a few photos we took ourselves.

We were able to take our wine out back and visit with all of the animals. They had many more than we took photos of but it was FREEZING for the beginning of October! They had llamas, dogs, ducks, a potbellied pig and more. They were all so funny...especially the pig lovingly named Bacon :).

This guy was in the front next to the house. He ran right over say hello. I must say he was a tad annoyed he ran all the way over and we didn't have anything to feed him.

They had an adorable breakfast nook next to the dining room with individual tables. I really liked the other couples that were staying at the house. But after spending the night before with them at a local pub it was nice to eat our breakfast alone. The breakfast was amazing! Apple pancake and the BEST bacon I have ever eaten in my life!!! It tasted like a cross between bacon and candy. Delicious!!

The house is only a short ride to downtown Granville where we had dinner. I wish we would have arrived at the house earlier so we could have taken advantage of the shops downtown. If anyone finds themselves in Granville, I highly recommend The Orchard House!
